Welcome back!

Hello Everybody! Welcome back to the new school year. I am Oliver, the new Head Boy of Bickley Park. I hope you all had a great summer and are ready and raring to go this new term. Last year was of course our centenary year, a very special point in the school’s history. I am sure Year 101 will be just as fantastic!

Over the summer, teachers, workmen and many others worked tirelessly to upgrade the school to an even higher standard and help improve BPS boys’ education by introducing fantastic new classrooms, as well as new equipment, learning materials and loads more. Being a bit of a science nut, my personal favourite new development is of course the school’s brand new Science Centre. From my first few lessons, I must say it is absolutely amazing and you should all look forward very much to using this great new facility.

Now, for some of you, the changes might be hard to remember, so, just as a quick recap, here are the new locations for the classrooms for years 5-8:

The Woodlawn – History, Computing

The Theatre – Drama, Music

The Lodge – French, Spanish

The Tidman – Maths, English, Geography, R.E, P.S.H.E

Looking forward, there is a lot to be excited about regarding events taking place in this upcoming term. We have BPS old boy, Rauiri Bell’s talk on the 17th, shortly followed by the explorer Charlie Walker who, no doubt, will share some of his latest amazing adventures with us. I hope to see lots of you attending the talks and learning from these remarkable visitors.

Also we have our annual Fathers’ and Sons’ Go-karting event on October 18th at Buckmore Park: a favourite of some of the keen car enthusiasts, not to mention the Expedition Day, which was cancelled last year due to our centenary celebrations.

I hope you all enjoyed the first week back at school, especially the new Y3 students. Please remember that our Y8 Prefect team are always willing to help in any situation so, if you have a problem that you want to talk to somebody about, please feel free to come and find one of us.

There is so much to look forward to this year again so be motivated, interested and get involved. We are very lucky to be able to enjoy the exciting and welcoming atmosphere of Bickley Park. Remember to be keen, work hard and don’t let any opportunity pass you by. Have a great Autumn Term!
