What a start to the academic year it has been so far! The first few weeks at school have been exciting, busy and enjoyable.
The number of extra-curricular events that has taken place is huge and testament to all the activities available to school. I will name a few…. NSPCC Workshops, the BMX Stunt Show, the announcement of the new Performing Arts Centre (Project PAC), the school community walk and many more.
Two of the most recent events deserve special mention. The Third Annual Father and Son Go Karting at the legendary Buckmore Park was a fantastic way to bring the school community together with smiling kids and some very competitive fathers. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend but I spoke to Brandram House Captain Luke Clifford, who was in attendance, and he said it was great fun.
Another historic milestone was marked in Bickley Park history when the newly formed golf team took on the tough and mighty Whitgift who have produced some of the best schoolboy golf teams in England. This was Bickley’s first ever golf fixture and we were victorious. My brother, Bertie Deen, and Luke Clifford drew their match. Oli Howard and Joe Day won their match 3 and 2 and Tom Day and I won our match one up. The level of golf was outstanding on the day and BPS’s success in golf didn’t stop there. This past Friday, at Croham Hurst Golf Club, Tom Day, Oli Howard and myself took on eight prep schools from all around the South East for the Whitgift Trophy and walked away with the Claret Jug…. It was a very special moment for the school, since many of the other teams have elite England schoolboy golfers!
